Entrepreneur J. Klimantavičius Shares Insight with EMBA Class
22.12.2009
Jonas Klimantavičius, the founder and chief executive of the award-winning Lithuanian handyman company Mano Meistras, shared his insights and experience as an entrepreneur with the members of BMI International Executive MBA Class X as a guest speaker during the course “Entrepreneurship and New Ventures”.
What is involved in starting your own business after having been a salaried employee? What key discoveries await a new self-made business owner? What are the main difficulties involved? What has to be rethought and reevaluated?
Mr. Klimantavičius, himself a 2003 graduate of the BMI Executive MBA programme, delved into these and many other questions, drawing on practical examples and extensive personal experience, and stressing the overarching importance of innovative thinking and unflagging efforts to resolve whatever problems arise.
Asked about the main difference between working for someone else and starting one‘s own business, Jonas Klimantavičius answered without hesitation: “Your motivation to work!” As a business owner, you are responsible for all aspects of the company in the broadest sense, he added, advising potential entrepreneurs to remember that they themselves have to be the source of the energy and ideas that drive their company forward. The company will survive as long as its “source” is healthy and highly motivated, he said.
