BMI Alumni Hold ‘Anti-Corruption Day’ on Tuesday, April 13: Open Workshop and Alumni-only Panel Discussion

9.4.2010

The BMI Alumni Association invites you to take part in its initiative to spread key information about how businesses can and do deal with corruption risk management, presenting international best practices and sharing concrete experiences.

The BMI Alumni ‘ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY’ on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, includes two events:

-          a practical morning seminar led by Arvid Halvorsen, a past Norsk Hydro executive whose international expertise on dealing with corruption has been recognized by Transparency International and others. (He is now a board member of TI in Norway). The seminar starts at 9:00 a.m.

-          An ALUMNI-ONLY evening panel discussion entitled “How Can Companies Combat Corruption?” Key insights and relevant real-life examples will be ensured by panel members including Audris Barcevicius of Siemens, Atgimimas editor Indre Makaraityte and TI expert Arvid Halvorsen. Starting time 6 p.m.

The morning training session is free and is open to you and any employees of your companies. It will take place from 9:00 to 13:00 at Didžioji str 5, Vilnius.

“I am sure we all agree that corruption is a big problem and that reducing corruption is a priority for the good of our companies and our country,” said Bryan Bradley, EMBA Project Manager at BMI. “Directly or indirectly it is something that we do deal with, something that involves very real business risks, and something that cost us money and opportunities. I personally took part in a workshop led by Mr Halvorsen last fall, and can assure you that the presentation will be engaging, thought-provoking and relevant in a practical way to company managers.”

The evening panel discussion is restricted to BMI Alumni only in order to allow for a very open discussion of sometimes touchy issues. You should definitely at least hear this, and hopefully also contribute some of your own experiences and perceptions. As with recent BMI Alumni events, the venue is hotel Shakespeare’s, Bernardinų st. 8, Vilnius. Members of the BMI Alumni Association participate free of charge (For alumni who are not members there is a fee of 30 Lt, payable to the BMI Alumni Association bank account or at the venue in cash.)

To register for either or both events, call BMI at 8 (5) 248 7245 or send an e-mail to alumni@bmi.lt.

BMI Alumni is very grateful to Transparency International for flying in Mr Halvorsen just for this initiative, and for providing the premises for the morning workshop.
