BMI Supports Nationwide School Renewal with Leadership Training
3.3.2008
The Baltic Management Institute (BMI) has joined other socially responsible companies in Lithuania to launch Let‘s Teach (“Renkuosi mokyti!”), an innovative long-term programme to provide schools with talented young teachers, and so help renew the country’s education system.
Let’s Teach encourages top university graduates, who would not normally enter teaching, to teach for at least two years in secondary schools nationwide.
“The goal is, through the support of partners like BMI, to transform exceptional university graduates into effective, inspirational teachers and leaders, who are so much needed today in Lithuania’s school system and throughout society,” says BMI Director General Jaunius Pusvaškis.
BMI’s main role is to provide leadership training for the participating graduates, who also receive pedagogical instruction, salary supplements and attractive corporate internship possibilities from supporting companies.
SEB Bankas is the initiator and main financial supporter of Let’s Teach, which is inspired by similar successful programmes in the U.K. and U.S. This first such private initiative in the Baltic nation enjoys the patronage of the Lithuanian Ministry of Education.
